Notification reports Windows Security action needed, but there is no way to proceed.

I'm seeing a strange problem with Windows Defender on a week-old computer with Windows 11 Pro. The icon in the Notification area (1) indicates that action is needed.

The problem is (2) "App & Browser Control (actions recommended)", but when I click that option (or ANY OTHER option in the list), the result is (3) a message about needing a new app. Following that link (4) returns no results.

I have rebooted. I have run "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" (success reported) and "sfc /scannow" (no errors).

I see that this has been discussed, but I didn't see a solution. Hopefully someone has found a solution and I just missed it.

You're right, you missed a solution which was released last year:

Open PowerShell as administrator (search in the search icon) > click Yes > paste this command and press Enter:

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

Restart your device after the command finishes doing its job and check again.

It's easy to ride down a hill while it's hard to climb the hill back up.
Like that, it's easy to malfunction a computer while it's hard to fix it.

Good Day Bill,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 11 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

Here's the steps you can try.

-Click Start, type Powershell and run as administrator
-Copy and paste the command below and hit Enter.

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

Once you enter that command restart and try to open the Windows Security.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.
Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

Sincerely,
Carlo T.
