Hi Cile it sounds like the reset might have affected your audio settings or drivers. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step to restore sound on your Dell XPS 16 9640:
1. **Check Audio Output Device**
- Click on the **Speaker icon** in the taskbar.
- Ensure the correct output device (e.g., your laptop speakers or headphones) is selected.
2. **Run the Audio Troubleshooter**
- Open **Settings** > **System** > **Troubleshoot** > **Other troubleshooters**.
- Find **Playing Audio** and click **Run**. Follow the prompts to detect and fix issues.
3. **Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers**
- Open **Device Manager** (`Win + X` > **Device Manager**).
- Expand **Sound, video, and game controllers**.
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio) and select **Update driver**.
- If updating doesn’t work, choose **Uninstall device**, restart your laptop, and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.
4. **Set Audio Device as Default**
- Open **Control Panel** > **Sound** > **Playback** tab.
- Right-click your audio device and select **Set as Default Device**.
5. **Disable Audio Enhancements**
- In the **Sound** settings, select your audio device and click **Properties**.
- Go to the **Enhancements** tab and check **Disable all enhancements**.
6. **Check for Windows Updates**
- Open **Settings** > **Windows Update** > **Check for updates**.
- Install any pending updates, as they might include fixes for audio issues.
7. **Dell Support Resources**
- Visit the [Dell Support page](https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000251...) for your XPS 16 9640.
- Download and install the latest audio drivers specific to your laptop model.
8. **Reset BIOS Settings**
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing **F2** during boot).
- Reset the BIOS to default settings, as incorrect configurations can sometimes affect hardware.
It is my honor to give you some advice, and I hope that my efforts can be of some use to you, otherwise let me know and we will come up with a more technical solution
Don't forget to put my recommendation useful so that it can reach more people
Thank you for your understanding and support.
