No audio from front panel audio jack

Hi ive built a new pc recently and everything works except for the 3.5mm front panel audio jack on the corsair 4000d airflow pc case.

The rear audio jacks work fine and USB audio device works. The USB jacks on the front panel work fine but this 3.5mm audio jack on the front panel doesnt (and yes ive plugged it into JAUD1 on the motherboard securely).

I've installed the latest realtek drivers from my motherboards website (MSI b650 gaming plus wifi) and still nothing.

When i use Realtek Audio Console, "disable front panel jack detection" is disabled, however, when i enable it, my PC recognises "Realtek HD Audio 2nd output", though there is still no sound (despite sound showing when i test in settings).

It seems like its stuck doing the opposite, when disable front panel jack detection is off my PC doesnt recognise the 2nd output and shows as unplugged, but when i turn on disable front panel jack detection, my PC recognises the 2nd realtek output and shows its plugged in (though i still get no sound).

How can i fix this so i actually get sound? Its looking like a software issue rather than a hardware fault, however, tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers already. I've tried sfc /scannow and shows everythings fine. My BIOS says HD audio is enabled. It's getting annoying

Hi kebeSN.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I have read your question in detail and all the steps you have made are quite correct. The option Disable front panel jack detection is indeed an option that needs to be enabled. Since your computer recognizes the Realtek HD Audio 2nd output, your hardware should be fine.

Although it doesn't really solve the problem, you can try to do a Sound Troubleshooting which may help you to find out why the problem occurs. You can do this by going to Windows Settings - System - Troubleshooting - Other Troubleshooting Troubleshooting. Find Audio on this page and click Run to the right of it. This may help you find the cause.

If the problem is a software issue, then you can try uninstalling Realtek Audio Console as a test. Then restart your computer to see if the problem is resolved.

Alternatively, Safe Mode can disable any third-party services/startup items and leave all drivers running at a minimum. You can try entering Safe Mode to see if you can play audio using the front jack:

1. Hold shift and use the Restart in the start button to restart and enter WinRE. (If you can't use the start menu, hold down the power button to turn off the computer, then press the power button to turn it on again. (If you can't use the start menu, press and hold the power button to turn off the computer, then press the power button to turn on.)

2. Click Troubleshooting - Advanced Options - Startup Settings Options.

3. Click the Restart button.

4. Select Start Windows in Safe Mode Environment (F4).

If your front jack works fine in Safe Mode, then the interference is caused by third-party service startup items. You may need to try disabling certain services/startups.
