no access permissions to the item in OneDrive

Fresh install ( but have had this previously, as well), and install a few programs that put links on the desktop. OneDrive is syncing the desktop.

Create a folder on the desktop, and move the shortcuts to this folder.

When Onedrive tries to sync, get the error for each of the shortcuts (ie if there are 5 shortcuts in the folder get "5 sync issues"):

"No access permissions to the item.

It appears that you do not have access permissions to the item. Ensure that you have the right permissions to allow the item to sync."

If I copy the folder to another area, error goes away. If I then copy it back to the desktop, error returns immediately.

It's a PITA!

Is there a fix?

Thanks.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the reply, but...

This is on a fresh install, and has happened prviously, as well.

Most of the replies suggest a "fresh install" to fix, but the one "hillarious" one, in particular, even suggested adding the Everyone group, to the system drive... Serious?? I thought you were a "10 years awarded Windows MVP", and your suggesting to open my PC to all comers?

Thanks.

The fixes I gave work for everyone who has OneDrive Security issues. Please work through them and report back results so I know what else to suggest if necessary.

If the fixes for the specific OneDrive Access Denied error don't help then here are fixes for OneDrive sync and to check over and repair the App itself:

1) Try these fixes for OneDrive sync:

2) Try resetting OneDrive here:

3) Right click OneDrive cloud icon in System Tray at right end of Task Bar, choose Settings, then Accounts tab, then Unlink OneDrive. Restart PC, go into Start Menu to open OneDrive sign in again to see if it stabilizes. Tutorial here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/36246-link-...

4) If not then Uninstall OneDrive in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft OneDrive. Restart PC.

Then reinstall OneDrive from a fresh download here:

If you prefer the OneDrive Store app then you can re-register it from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...
