NIKON NX 2

My NIKON NX 2 photo uploading and editing program crashes as soon as I open it, since the recent Microsoft Malware update .

I've re-booted, re-installed the program... All to no avail.  Nikon says it's a Microsoft problem.

How can I get it the NIKON NX 2 program back and up and running normally again?

My system is Windows 10 (64 bit operating system)

Please...  And thank you !!!

What is your operating system?

You have posted to the XP forums which is unsupported, so it has no updates being installed

I am not computer savvy.  I just know the basics.  My operating system is Windows 10 .  I've posted a photographed list of recent updates.  One was a few days ago for removal of malicious software..

Hi LouiseLafontaine1
Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. Do you get something in event log?

To start the diagnosis, I would like to see your event log. Post entries corresponding to this event and few minutes preceding this event in Event Logs.
Windows Key+R > Type eventvwr and Enter > See if any log corresponding to your date and time is there (Look under all entries under Windows Logs such as System, Application, Security...) > If yes, right click on that log > Save Selected Event > Zip all event files which correspond to your event, upload them to Onedrive and share the link here.

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. Will be glad to help you.
Best regards
Vijay Verma

Hi Louise

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Could you temporarily disable Windows Defender then see if it works?

Click Start, type: cmd
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

Type the following command and press Enter.
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Real-Time Protection" /v DisableRealtimeMonitoring /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

Exit then restart
Check if you can then use the Nikon software.
Best regards,
Andre Da Costa

Hello Andre Da Costa,

Thank you so much for your quick reply...

The instructions were clear and easy... Best of all, my program works again.

I am thrilled to pieces...  😊😊😊😊😊

Thank you again...  So very much appreciated...

Now if I can get my Microsoft Outlook to work again, I would be in heaven. (LOL)

Well, my joy was short-lived...

I just tried to use my Nikon View NX2 and it crashed yet again...  It worked fine when I followed Andre Da Costa's instructions the other night...  But when I went back into the program today, it crashed again...

ARGHHHH  !!!

I wish Microsoft would stop highjacking my computer to make updates that muck up my systems...

I am so tired of this :(

What can I do to make my program work again, and stop Microsoft from taking over my computer and installing troublesome updates ???

My Nikon program is not malware but the latest Microsoft update seems to think so.   So much for efficiency...
