.NET framework software update pop up

Hi guys,

Out of nowhere I have started to get pop ups from SoftwareUpdateNotification.exe - .NET Framework Initialization Error

I'll send an attachment of the popup.

It comes every 10 mins and they stack, so after a while I will have so many pop ups.

I have run virus scans which showed nothing. I looked at autoruns and found the same program and deleted it, but nothing happened.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks guys

Hi Ameya

That error is generated by a process named SoftwareUpdateNotification.exe, which is not a vuirus

That process is known to be associated with Brother printers software updater

Do you have a Brother printer attached to your PC?

If so, you should either re-install the driver and associated software for that printer, or turn off automatic updates in that Brother software . . .

If you want to turn off those automatic updates, I know you used Autoruns, but please try this:

Click the link below to download a small free utility that does not require installation

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/d...
When the file downloads, unzip it.

Depending on your system, run Autoruns or Autoruns64 as Administrator

In the search box of TreeSize, paste SoftwareUpdateNotification

Untick any entries found . . .
