Need to stop windows display "windows needs to install driver software for your bluetooth peripheral device" at startup

I tried to connect the iPhone4 via bluetooth to my ASUS F3SG Notebook. Ever since then, every time I startup the notebook, I receive not 1 but SIX dialgoues displaying "windows needs to install driver software for your bluetooth peripheral device"

I don't even want to install the bloody driver anymore, I just want the popup boxes to go away!! How can I stop Windows from trying to install these drivers??

It seems my Bluetooth Radios are: "Generic Bluetooth Adapter" and "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator". I am running Windows Vista Home Premiem 32-bit Operating System, Service Pack 2

Hi,

You can disable automatic driver installation for specific devices by configuring setting in devices and printers.

Follow these steps:
a. Click on the Start Menu and then select Devices and Printers.
b. Select the single device, right click, and in the menu click Device installation settings.
c. Under “Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices?” select “No, let me choose what to do”.
d. By selecting No, the choice will be expanded. Select also “Never install driver software from Windows Update”. Under this choice Windows will not do any searching for recommended driver updates for that specific device. Save changes.
e. By selecting “No, let me choose what to do” and “Always install the best driver software from Windows Update”, Windows will offer the driver for you to keep under
Recommended Updates, for possible later installation. Save changes.
f. The choice to “Replace generic device icons with enhanced icons” is offered only in the manual selection.

Hello Chris,

When I click on 'Start', I don't have the option to click 'Devices and Printers'...

...if I navigate to the 'Device Manager', I don't have the options suggested when I right-click. There seems to be nothing similar if I select 'Properties'...

This may be a bit too late since your last post was in 2011, but this is how I resolved the issue. My system is a Vista 64 bit system.

Click on the start button, go to the control panel, click on device manager. You should have a section in the list named 'other,' with one or more 'bluetooth peripheral device' there. Just right click on those and select 'disable.'

That should fix the issue!
