Neat scanner software won"t open after updates

I am running Windows 8.1 and my software for my Neat scanner updated, now when I go to open it, windows says there is a problem and closes down the program. I talk to Neat tech.s and they say it is a windows problem. They say some kind of conflict with some .net part of windows. I really need some answers

  1. Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard and select “Device Manager” from that list.
  2. In the “Device Manager” window, search for the Neat Scanner device and check its status.

Initially check if the device is compatible with Windows 8.1
