Mysterious "Update" file in Startup programs?

There is a program named Update in my Startup programs list in task manager. It has no publisher, the generic .exe icon, and I can't click into and see its file location or properties. Is this from a recent update, or has my computer been infected? Until i'm sure, I don't want to play with the settings
Hi JONMAINO

I am an independent advisor here to help

To my knowledge this is not a Microsoft entry

Have you scanned your system with Windows Defender?

I would also run a full scan with Malwarebytes anti-malware as well

Yes, I am able to disable this item, but because I don't know what the file is, I don't want to disable it just yet. I think I first noticed the Update file after my computer completed a Windows Update a few days ago. This update also automatically installed Microsoft Teams, which began on startup. I have uninstalled Microsoft teams but the update program is still listed in my startup menu. Again, right-clicking the Update program has the file location grayed out so I can't see where it's coming from

If it is related to any Microsoft app and is quite odd that it does not give you any details about the app.

You could always try disabling it and see if anything is not functioning properly and if you find that this something that you do need re-enable it
