My Windows Product key is changed! Error Code: 0xc004f074

In November 2015 there was a large build that when I updated my PC it did the "We're Setting Things up For you..." screen that you get when you first load up an account on windows. When I logged in I noticed this watermark saying "Activate Windows Go to Settings to activate Windows." Since then I have not been able to customize anything in the settings of my pc. And it's VERY ANNOYING. But here's the worse part. I went to the settings app to enter my product key, and i look at what it says my key is, and it's a different code than the one I was given when I bought it. I've tried manually installing it and deleting the old key in command prompt! and I still get the same error code: 0xc004f074. It also says that there was no KMS found. This is extremely frustrating. Please help?

Which version and edition of Windows was running on your computer prior to upgrading to Windows 10 Pro?

Please note: The copy of Windows 10 you download and upgrade from will correspond with the edition of Windows you have installed, if it does not, this is why you might be experiencing problems activating:

  • Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 8.0 Core, Windows 8.1 Core will install Windows 10 Home
  • Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.0 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro will install Windows 10 Pro

I have also tried phone activation, which just gave me a message that says that I was unable to do phone activation. I am considering doing a refresh for my system, because it's very annoying.

Windows 10 came preinstalled on my computer, how do I find the product key?

Press Windows key + X

Click Command Prompt (admin)

Enter the following command:

wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

Hit Enter

The product key will be revealed, copy the product key then enter it

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation > Change the product key then enter the new product key then click Next to Activate

If you are unable to activate Windows 10 after all the above and you are certain you have the correct edition installed, then please attempt phone activation:

When I entered the command, all in the output was this OA3xOriginalProductKey

And this is what I got when I tried phone activation...

For some reason after calling Microsoft, the watermark went away but my key is still not activated

Nevermind, it just comes and goes and NEVER ACTIVATES!
