My Start Menu - Settings icon has disappeared

My Start Menu - Settings Icon has disappeared.  It is now in my taskbar.

How do I put it back.  The setting to include it in my Start Menu is grayed out.

Since you are having challenges with the Settings option not appearing on your Start menu, let us troubleshoot it by checking the folders for these options in your Windows 10 computer:

 

1. Go to the folder with the path C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu Places.

2. Move all the shortcuts from this folder to any existing folder.

3. Restart your computer.

4. Move the shortcuts back to the Start Menu Places folder.

5. Restart your computer again.

 

The method that was described above is similar to refreshing these shortcuts by moving them out and back to the Start Menu Places folder. However, if these steps do not work, there is a possibility that the user profile that you are using is already corrupted. If this is the case, we suggest that you create a new local user account on your computer and see if the issue persists:
