My PC keeps freezing seemingly randomly. What should I try?

Hello all!

I first want to give you my build specs.

Ryzen 5 5600X CPU

AMD Radeon 6650XT GPU

32gb 3200mhz 2x16GB RAM (but running at 3133)

1TB Boot Drive m.2

2TB Game Drive m.2

TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II Motherboard

600W PSU

My PC had been running fine for the last while with few issues, and the ones that did come up I was able to resolve easily, one of which required me to replace the PSU and another requiring me to replace the MOBO. This was a while ago though, and I haven't had any issues for about 4 months. About 2 days ago, the screen would begin to freeze when moving through applications, namely OBS, Discord, Chrome, Edge, and Spotify. Closing the program the second my screen froze seemed to fix it sometimes, but not always, and if it did fix it temporarily, it would freeze when moving around other apps within the next minute. When I say freeze, I mean 1 frame every 10-30 seconds. The odd part is that anything going on on my screen at the time, i.e. in a discord call continues to function. There is a brief period in which nobody can hear me right when it freezes, but while it is still frozen, I can talk like normal and they can hear me despite my screen still just frozen the whole time. I have updated my BIOS (which seemed to go fine), scanned my RAM with the Windows Memory Checker tool, and scanned both of my disks for issues, of which there seemed to be none, and it still freezes. GPU is fully up to date. No bluescreens or anything and Armoury Crate says everything is up to date. To unfreeze my screen, I have to shut down the PC with the power button. There seems to be no specific time frame for which this happens. It could be 2 minutes with the PC on or 20 minutes in. However it doesn't seem to exceed 20 minutes, generally falling in about the 5-10 minute range. Totally variable though. If anyone has any ideas at all, please let me know. I am totally open to feedback.

Thank you!

OK, i found culprit and the solution. After swimming in the pool of ten similar threads, all leads to 23.9.2+ GPU drivers. These had described problems. In my case i was using 23.30.01.02 drivers, which are preview number 2, with Fluid motion frames. Unluckily, these are also based on 23.9.3 or 23.9.2. What other folks found out, 23.9.1 was free of these issues. But 23.10.1 came out, and with release notes we can read, they fixed video playback freeze issue. 23.10.1 were taken out, and 23.10.2 was puted in place - these drivers fixed the problem for me.

"Video playback freeze", as they described it (AMD), is nothing else, than hardware acceleration from GPU used for anything other than gaming, which was creating that freezing. That also would explain why disabling hardware acceleration in browser was dodging the bullet (freeze).

For anyone that would came to this thread i suggest installing 23.10.2 or 23.9.1 - from other threads on other portals, and personal experience, i confirm one of these solution will work.
