My MSI windows 11 home laptop suddenly running slow and laggy

Hi, so. I use my laptop everyday and it causes no problem. However, almost a week ago, I installed Lively wallpaper to apply a moving wallpaper I donwloaded (sue me) But since it was making my pc laggy, I activated the high perfomance por the program. Everything was good but then I turned on my pc and it was extremely laggy. Like, SUPER laggy. I panicked and uninstalled Lively wallpaper and everything, but it was still causing problems so I updated the NVIDIA app and downloaded the new driver it recommended to me. I also got a pop-up window that said something about activating NVIDIA overlap. I said yes. Then installed the driver and everything was fine after a restart. It went good these days but I turned it on today and the same problem now. It's very laggy and slow and I don't know what to do. I'm almost crying. I opened NVIDIA app again and I'm installing a new driver, but I still don't know what's the problem. I only have two games + steam installed and it never gives trouble or something.

My pc specifications are:

MSI SWORD Intel core I5, NVIDIA RTX 3050. If I need to provide any more info I will, but I'd like to know what's going on.

If needed, you can also give the DDU option a shot, especially if you're planning to install or update. The NVIDIA installer actually gives you the choice to do a clean installation too, so that’s another way to go.

Anyway, glad I could help! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more questions or run into any other issues.

Indeed, from the screenshot, everything looks normal. You might want to try using the Display Driver Uninstaller. Basically, this tool wipes everything related to your GPU, so you can start fresh with a clean driver installation. It might help fix the issue.

Here’s the link to the tool: https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-...

If you can run it in Safe Mode, that’s ideal, but regular Windows mode works too. Just make sure to choose the "Clean and restart" option after you run it.

Hello Yaedx, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I'm here to help with your questions or issues. Just note – this is a place where passionate Microsoft users help each other, we don't work directly for Microsoft.

When you updated your NVIDIA drivers, did you perform a "clean installation" (removing previous drivers before installing the new ones)?

How about the Task Manager, can you check to see if there are any processes consuming an unusually high amount of resources (CPU, RAM, or Disk)?

Hello, sorry for the late answer. I think that option wasn't available when I did it, I just had the "fast installation".

I struggled to open task manager but nothing seems to be using high amount of resourcesby itself, but almost 50% of memory is being used by small processes:

Hi again. I let it rest for a few hours, when I came back, everything seemed to be normal again. I didn't have the chance to try the tool since it looks normal again. But I'm curious about what could've happened. Do you think I may find out if there's a service that's causing the problem in safe mode?
