My monitor has a space about 1 inch wide on the left side of the screen. How do I get rid of it?

The display on my screen leaves about one inch of black space on the left. The screen is filled all the way on the right. How can I get rid of the black space on the left of my screen.

 If you're talking about a desktop computer, there will be buttons on the monitor for making adjustments.  It's different depending on makes and models so you'll have to read your user guide or fiddle around with it until you figure it out.
