My GPU takes performance hit after installing patch for July 9, 2024-KB5039895 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 and Windows 11, version 23H2

After installing patch for July 9, 2024-KB5039895 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 and Windows 11, version 23H2 my GPU is taking a lot of performance hit and some games become unplayable, when starting a game it degrades my PC overall performance,

For example watch a video on Youtube while the game is running becomes impossible, my ethernet speeds drops with 80% on download and 40% on the upload.

After uninstalling this patch all the performance issues are gone.

I would still like to have that patched but also be able to use my PC normally,

Is anyone else having similar issues?

What more information should I report?

How could I report this to Microsoft support?

Hi, Abel

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are experiencing performance issues after updating, and although there are performance issues mentioned in the patch update logs, if you are experiencing the issue after updating and the issue disappears after uninstalling the update, then the issue is indeed patch related, and .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 can sometimes cause performance related issue,as a Windows user myself, I empathize with your situation!

I have the same problem. Warzone and MW3 are almost unplayable. I have a 4090 FE and Ryzen 7800x 3d.

Went from 160-170 fps to 70-80 with tons of stuttering and input delay. PLEASE HELP!

Hi, Chris Steenburgen

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Do you only have this problem with these two games?

Your computer configuration is fully capable of playing these games, so the hardware configuration cannot be considered as a factor in the problem. Recently, many users have reported that they will encounter lag and FPS drops when playing COD series games. It is recommended that you update the graphics card driver first. If it is already the latest driver, you can try to roll back to the old version of the graphics card driver and try to close other background applications while playing the game.

If the problem persists, you can try to contact the game official.

Best Regards

I see the problem when using my docking station with multi monitor setup. When I use the laptop by itself, the problem is not seen.
