Hello, mason miller
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
Hello, thank you for your feedback here on your issue, it looks like your Aokeo microphone is powered on (green light is on) but the computer is not recognizing it correctly.
I will start by providing you with some troubleshooting steps to assist you in checking this:
1. Check the USB port and cable
Try a different USB port: Sometimes the problem can be with the USB port. Try plugging the microphone into a different port on your computer (especially if your computer has USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, try a different one).
Check for cable problems: If possible, troubleshoot the cable by replacing it with another USB cable.
2. Check the sound settings
Right-click the volume icon on the taskbar and select “Sound” or “Open Sound Settings”.
In the “Input Devices” section, see if your Aokeo microphone is listed among the connected devices. If not, select the microphone (if it appears in the list).
You can also perform a microphone test here to see if you have sound input.
3. Reinstall or update the audio drivers
Open Device Manager (press Win + X, then select “Device Manager”).
Find your microphone under “Audio Inputs and Outputs” or “Sound, Video and Game Controllers”.
Right-click on the microphone and select “Uninstall Device”. Then unplug the microphone, restart your computer, and plug the microphone back in and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Also, right-click on the microphone and select “Update Driver” to make sure the driver is up-to-date.
4. Check the privacy settings
Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and make sure to allow apps to access the microphone.
5. Test the microphone on another computer
To rule out problems with the microphone itself, you can test the microphone by plugging it into another computer. If it works fine on the other computer, the problem may be with your computer's settings or drivers.
6. Using the Windows Troubleshooting Tool
Right-click the volume icon on the taskbar, select “Troubleshoot Sound Problems” and follow the prompts. This tool can help identify problems with audio settings or drivers.
7. Try using external software
Some USB microphones may require specific drivers or software to work properly. You can visit the official Aokeo website to install any specific software or driver.
8. Reset your computer's audio settings
Sometimes, resetting the audio settings can also solve the problem. Go to Settings > System > Sound and select Restore Default Settings in Advanced Sound Options.
You can try it out by referring to the steps above, and after that, give some feedback and I will further support you.
Best regards
