Hello Kenridge99, my name is Paul one of the community experts. I ma sorry that you are having issues with your WEBCAM.

My I ask once you connected the webcam to the PC did you tried to download the latest driver from the Manufacturers website and installed it?

Do you also have a screenshot that I can see to fully assess the error?

Thanks Paul, When I plugged (USB) camera in then a VERY BRIEF message slid onto screen from bottom right indicating that M/soft did not accept camera (Their own !!) with something about Viruses. There was an option to search for driver updates which I activated but to no avail. Seems to be some confusion about which cameras will work in Windows 10. Happy to buy one if I can be sure M/soft will not reject it. Sorry no screenshot. Ken

We regret to inform you that as of now we don’t have any don't have drivers for Windows 10 for this device. So we would suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode by following the below steps:

1. Right click the driver set up.

2. In the compatibility tab, go to compatibility mode, tick the Run the program in compatibility mode for: select the windows operating system you want the driver to run in.

I believe the LifeCam VX-1000 is not compatible at all with Windows 10. I had to scrap my LifeCam when I moved to Windows 10.

The only reason it's not compatible with Windows 10 is because Microsoft has not written an updated driver for it.

So all the perfectly good Lifecams out there now become landfill because Microsoft refuses to assign this small task to an intern. It might affect Nadella's bonus.

LifeCam VX-1000 in excellent condition - outdated driver + Microsoft greed and arrogance = More plastic in the ocean.

In case you didn't know - currently, there is major supply/demand imbalance for webcams...

You may not like the answer I gave you, but it is certainly the answer nonetheless. If you think that a mere intern could do the job, why not write one yourself and make a lot of money.

This is just the kind of belligerent, arrogant reply I expected from a Microsoft representative.

Team       Microsoft       Planet        Microsoft Customers

Score      +0.01             -100K         -100K

If money is what you're interested in, it seems like someone with your expertise and enough time on their hands to "volunteer" to provide cynical responses to Microsoft customers might be the perfect recruit for a "real" job at Microsoft.

Just stating what I believe to be true. I don't work for Microsoft and you certainly don't have to believe what I've told you.
