MSN News app doubling up breaking news alerts

For the past week or two, every time I get a breaking news alert, it appears twice. This is a new behavior.

This is happening in the MSN News app on my Windows 10 phone, AND on my Windows 8.1 laptop.

I haven't knowingly made any changes. Is this a new bug? Any suggestions for fixing?

Hi,

Try syncing the devices. Verify if this behavior continues.

An update on either device may be causing the multiple alerts.

Thanks Smitty, but I don't know what you mean when you said "Try syncing the devices."

The devices are independent and have not been connected, except that the the account that I use to sign in.

I can't seem to find the installed version number, nor most-recent version number of the app on either device.

Can you provide a little more detail/steps for syncing so that I can try to help myself? Much appreciated.
