Mouse cursor constantly changing to "Busy" after 2022-04 Update

Hello,

After updating a number of both Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11 Pro systems with the 2022-04 Cumulative Update for x64-based Systems, the mouse cursor constantly switches between normal and "Busy" every few seconds.

Has anyone else seen this?

If so, anyone with a fix?

Thanks,

John

Aha, here are some interesting components of the issue: I also ran a AmoryCrate update and Im on a Z590e. Probably Asus messed up here…

Did you solve it yet? I was late to the update, and now Im struggeling with that mouse cursor of constant background action, its 16th of may by now.

FYI: Im not running any Norton, its appeared out of thin air, and after the last win11 update.

Any progress on this (besides fixing the symptoms with a workaround like changing the mouse cursors appearence to normal for background action)?

In my case, the problems partially stopped after I got annoyed and uninstalled Norton360 and changed the cursor set to default I think. The problem went away instantly. I did not install Norton for 2 weeks. During that time there were no symptoms. Today I installed Norton360 again and the symptom with the hourglass appearing every few seconds have returned, but so far I am not seeing increased CPU usage, and it is not blocking my cursor. I'll keep watching and let you guys know. My computer is old hardware, a laptop from 13 years ago, so I wouldn't see problems there.

Uninstalling and reinstalling ArmouryCrate did the trick for me. No more spinning circle next to my cursor. Thanks

In my case, I got the busy mouse cycle after the 22h2 upgrade. What I did to resolve this is to open Armoury Crate then select

Settings -> Update Center -> Device & Component then upgrade TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS to the latest, right after that, things come back to normal.

Same here. Armoury Crate Version 5.2.12.0 had a pending update ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING. Once installed the cursor issue was gone.

Well, and after installing several more patches from Microsoft in October, the cursor blocking problem returned, as I described earlier. The only solution that temporarily "frees" the cursor is to run some installation program, so that a message appears warning that you want to run the installation program and allow you to make changes to the computer, Then the mouse cursor still flashes every 5 seconds for 1 second, signaling that the computer is busy, but the cursor is "interactive" and you can click system elements and applications. After a moment of inactivity, when the cursor is not being used, the problem of not being able to click system and application elements returns immediately. It looks as if some application (I'm betting on Norton Security which I have installed) is in conflict with some Windows elements (I'm betting on Windows 1022H2 KB5015684) that are being changed and installed as part of the patches, taking control of the "surface layer" of the Windows GUI, sort of like "glass" on the GUI. The computer again became completely unusable. Of course, I have always used antivirus, anti-pishing and anti-spyware programs, and I have already checked my computer many times for possible viruses and spyware.
