Hi CraigWyant,
- Have you made any recent changes on the computer?
- Are you able to use other USB devices on the computer?
- What is the make, model number of the keyboard and mouse?
- When was the last time it was working fine?
Test the keyboard and mouse on another USB port on the computer and check if it works.
Connect another mouse or keyboard to the computer and check if it works.
If the above method fails then download and install the latest drivers for both the device (if available) from the manufacturer website.
I would also suggest that you run SFC scan on the computer which would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them.
The scan may take some time, so be patient. Windows will repair any corrupted or missing files that it finds. If information from the installation CD is needed to repair the problem, you may be prompted to insert your Windows XP installation disk.

My mouse and Keyboard quit working as soon as I get to the Windows XP login screen. I know they are working because I tested them on another computer. They both plug into USB ports. I have tried to login in the SAFE Mode, but they still don't work. The only time they work, is when I am in the Set-up mode. I have read a lot of other post and it seems that a lot of people are having the same problem???
1. no I haven't made any recent changes to the computer.
2. I don't have any other USB devices to try.
3. The mouse is a microsoft Model1068 and the keyboard is a Dell Model RT7D50
4. May 30th is the last day is was working fine.
I have tested the keyboard and mouse in all 6 USB ports and none of them work.
The mouse and Keyboard work fine on another computer.
How do I download and install the latest drivers for both if I can't operate the computer with the mouse or keyboard???
How can I run the SFC scan on the computer? The only time the keyboard or mouse work is in the setup mode. Is there a way I can run it from there?

Craig
Have they worked with the computer previously?
Is the transponder connected to a USB port or a USB hub? Have you tried a different USB hub?
Beg or borrow a wired keyboard and mouse and this will give you a working platform to acquire drivers etc.
What is the computer make and model?
