Hi Pedro. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse and look at settings there and in Additional Mouse Options on the various tabs which will have these choices to change.

If it's a highly specialized mouse it may require installing a driver or other software from the manufacturer's Support Downloads web page.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi Pedro, what is the make and exact model of your Mouse?

Usually, a multi -button mouse will come with a small piece of software that allows you to map the extra buttons to computer functions - check in your System tray beside the clock for a mouse app . . .

Tanks for your answer Greg,

I have already been there but only generic options shows, like switching main and secondary button or double click speed.

The mouse instructions manual says to go to the manufacture's website to download a software, which I did, but they didn't have any software for this mouse.

The mouse is a Spirit of Gamer PRO-M9.

Here's the link to the manufacturer's download center: http://www.spiritofgamer.com/centre-de-telechargement/

The website might be in french, but there's an option to change the languange on top of the page.

There is nothing related to the mouse in the System Tray.

The mouse is a Spirit of Gamer PRO-M9. It didn't come with an installation cd and the manufacturer's website doesn't have any software for this mouse.

Hi Pedro. It's weird they don't have anything online about their gaming mouse buttons or software. I guess you could try to ask their Support directly.

Meanwhile see if this video for How To Program Extra Mouse Buttons helps any: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sKV5Yb2160

They have software only for some mouses and other stuff, like keyboards, headphones and game controllers.

I will check the vídeo you suggested and see if it helps.

I should also say that these buttons used to work like this:

Forward and back could be used to navigate in Windows Explorer or Microsoft Edge and the DPI changer would just go through the DPI settings. And because they are now recognized as keyboard keys I can assign them to game controls, which I couldn't before.

Hi Pedro, Spirit of Gamer does not provide any specific software for the PRO-M9 !

There are free Apps available on the web that will allow you to program the extra buttons on your Mouse

I have tried the app suggested by the video, changed the the defenition of mouse button 4 and mouse button 5 to previous Windows and next Windows, respectively, but didn't work, probably because the computer is receiving a keyboard input.

In the meantime I have tried a few things. I went to http://www.keyboardtester.com/ to see what is the input when I press the buttons. The results where these:

Forward button: SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+Left Windows

Back button: SHIFT+CTRL+ALT

DPI changer button: SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+Right Windows

In the Devices and Printers section of Control Panel the mouse name is 2.4G INPUT DEVICE and if I go to properties, this is written on Categories line: Keyboard; Mouse

Hmm. I wonder if you can program it as a keyboard then. https://lifehacker.com/5883003/the-best-key-rem...

If not then possibly remove the keyboard inputs and reprogram using mouse tool.
