Missing Bitlocker

Hi, I'm having trouble finding bitlocker om my laptop. So I need to turn off bitlocker on my laptop but i couldn't find bitlocker on my control panel, search, and settings. When I try to use settings > system > storage > disk and volumes and click "turn on bitlocker" it says "Failed to open BitLocker control panel tool. Error code:0x80004005". Here is my screenshot.

I also try to use control panel > system and security, but I couldn't find bitlocker there.

For my laptop specs, I'm using Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3. AMD Ryzen 5700u, 12 GB of RAM. I'm using windows 11 and my latest update is KB5008215.

If you guys have a similar problem and know the solution please help. Thanks everyone.

Hi KevinHeshell,

Thanks for posting here.

In order to enable Bitlocker, we need to first confirm how BitLocker is supported on your computer, please:

1. Open Start.

2. Directly type in msinfo32 and hit Enter

3. Click the System Summary branch from the left pane.

4. Check the Device Encryption Support item, please confirm if it reads Meets prerequisites, or we should see why BitLockeris not (fully) supported here.

If you see Meets prerequisites with the steps above but still not able to get the feature, you can try to do a fix:

1. Open Start.

2. Directly type cmd and click Run as administrator from the search result on the right panel.

3. Type the follow command and hit Enter:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

4. After the command is complete, please restart Windows, launch cmd as administrator and type the follow command:

sfc /scannow

5. After this complete, please restart Windows again and check if BitLocker is back.

BTW, if your Windows 11 is a Home version, BitLocker won’t be available here, but you will still be able to turn on the device encryption:

Many thanks and wish you a nice day!

Thank you for this.

I am using Windows 11 home and I'm getting the same error message. Do still follow the 9 steps before then turning on device encryption.
