Mirroring Samsung tv with Samsung laptop

I can’t seem to get the picture from laptop to tv I get the sound in settings it says Samsung tv display UHD music connected , the tv is new Samsung UN50CU7000FXZA laptop is old but worked on my old tv when it said mirror to mirror app I think this uses smart things app I think help if you can.

These are the steps to mirror to your TV using SmartThings from the Samsung website:

Access Smart View with SmartThings

You can mirror your phone’s or tablet's display to a TV using the SmartThings app as well. First, make sure the TV is turned on and connected to your SmartThings account.

  1. Using your phone or tablet, open the SmartThings app, and select the TV you would like to mirror to.

  2. In the TV's setting page, tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Mirror screen (Smart View).

  3. Tap Start now. Give your TV permission to access your device, if needed.

Note: This feature may not be available on the PC version of SmartThings.

If that doesn't work, try these steps. These are also from the Samsung website;

Mirror your screen

  1. On your PC, click Start, then begin typing Bluetooth and other device settings and click on it when it appears.

  2. Click Add device or Add Bluetooth or other device. Then, click Wireless display or dock.

  3. Click your TV once its name is displayed. If prompted, select Allow on your TV.

  4. Now your PC screen will be mirrored to the TV.

I haven’t tried the dock settings yet just Bluetooth if I tried dock or image maybe I didn’t let it search long enough I’ll let you know.

You'll want to make sure bluetooth is turned on for your TV.

I used the second Samsung option but I get sound and a blue screen on the tv but no picture from the laptop, the only help I got from the Samsung people was to try using an HDMI cable. Right now all my HDMI ports are being used soundbar arc port Xbox and a 1-3 HDMI powered converter for other devices. These are all working fine but could this be causing the my no picture?

Maybe you don't have the correct input selected on the TV? Try changing that.

I probably have done that before but can’t remember especially with the new tv and if this helps any my laptop is a NP-550xTA-K01US and tv UN50CU7000FXZA.

You should have an input or source button on the TV remote.

It did with the HDMI but not wireless and I only have one WiFi in the house but all I get on the tv is sound and a blue screen lower right corner icons say no picture and exit , new Samsung smart tv and a old Samsung NP-550 XTA laptop is what I have laptop worked on my old Samsung tv.
