Minecraft for Windows 10 will not update from version 1.13.105.0

Hi

I am trying to update Minecraft to the latest version using Microsoft Store, but it just keeps installing version 1.13.105.0, which mean I cannot connect to games with my family. I have tried various things to fix this: resetting the Minecraft app; resetting the Store app; resetting both together; uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft.

Store shows me there is an update and will continually download and install it if I leave it on the MInecraft page. However, it is just the same version over and over again.

Any advice on how to overcome this obstacle and get this install, so I can join games with my family?

Thanks

Hi my name is Ross, I'm an independent advisor. I'd be happy to help with your issue.

It’s likely you need to first finish installing Windows updates and possible a feature update before this will update.

Goto the start menu, click settings and then update. Now check for any pending updates and ensure they are installed before trying again.

Regards,
Ross

Hi Ross

Thanks for your suggestion. I did indeed have a feature update pending (1909). I've installed this, but unfortunately, I still seem to be stuck in the same look of installing 1.13.105.0.

I've done another check for updates and there are none.

I have previously checked the registry and found entries in there for Minecraft 1.14, even though it is not installed. I don't know if that is relevant at all.

Any other suggestions?

Regards

Interestingly, I renamed the Minecraft 1.14 folder under program files\windowsapps (Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_1.14.105.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe), and then tried to update. Store still only installed 1.13, but the 1.14 folder was recreated, So it looks like it is at the very least downloading version 1.14, but it is just not installing properly.

Hi,

The only other suggestion I can give is to uninstall and then reinstall the app. This should force the latest version to install.

Ross

Thanks Ross

I've tried that already, a few times. It just seems stuck in a loop. When on the Minecraft page, MS Store will, on the top bar with the "Update" button, show downloading, then installing, then back to downloading, then installing again, in a a continual loop.

Perhaps I will have to wait until 1.15 to break the loop.

Regards

Yes, but the only response I got was to check my system spec, which is fine.

Tonight Windows Store had an update for itself. that took a couple of goes to install (Store needed a reset), but after that a few apps needed an update, including Minecraft. And hey presto! It has finally updated to 1.14!

Thanks Igor and Ross. Your help was appreciated.
