Microsoft LifeCam Studio does not work with Windows 11

Hello

I've been using the Microsoft LifeCam studio since the pandemic started.

It worked fine with Windows 10, and I upgraded to Windows 11 in early November 2020.

It worked with Windows 11 as well, but it used to give black screen on Teams frequently.

The solution used to be very simple, i.e. just update Windows and do a restart.

However, the camera is not working at all for the past 2 weeks.

Unplugging and replugging hasn't worked, and I have reinstalled Windows to check if that wasn't the problem.

In fact, unplug and replug renames the camera to WebCam.

I've checked many other articles on the same issue, some dating back to 2011, and nothing has worked.

Please help me, as my exams are approaching soon and I'll need to use my camera again.

Thank You

TP

The first link has two additional links

One of them made me download a .cab file, and when I opened it I found just dlls in there

The second one just redirected me to a site which just says Windows 11 has all the drivers

The thing is, I've installed all updates possible, and it still doesn't work.

Uninstalling the USB Root Hub worked, but that was only temporary because the next day it showed the same thing, and uninstalling the USB Root Hub again didn't work.

I have no idea where to get the LifeCam drivers that will make this work

Google has been unhelpful so far, Microsoft says all drivers are in Windows Update and external/third-party apps don't find anything for the device.

Don't know if this helps, but my camera used to be plugged into the monitor hub. Plugging into the laptop directly isn't changing anything though.

Did you choose both of the webcams listed in Device Manager, from Driver tab choose Update Driver, then Automaticallly? If it doesn't find a better driver for the LifeCam, then try Update Driver > Browse > Let me pick to see if it's in the previously installed drivers.
You can also download Lifecam webcam drivers here:

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

I reinstalled Windows again, but this time I had the camera plugged in during the whole time, and I can now confirm that it is working perfectly, though I have no idea whether it will continue to work.

Thank You very much for your help Mr. Greg
