Microsoft account login issue

Hi,

This is really confusing. I was not signed in to my account in my windows 10 system, which then directed to a account creation option. Using that I am allowed to create a Microsoft account from my windows 10 OS, which only takes a user name, but no password or other details.

Now that happened now, I am only allowed to signin by scanning my fingerprint since there was no password set. So I signed in to webpage, by scanning my fingerprint. I tried to add a new password. But there is only one option related to passwords, which is to change your password, which takes a previous password (mandatory field!!) to set a new password. Now I am stuck in the middle of nowhere. Please help.
