Microphone issues on Bootcamp Macbook Pro 16 inch

I don't know if anybody else is having this problem, but for some reason, in bootcamp, my microphone gets a really weird static noise at times that also distorts my voice. It happens frequently, although not all the time. I do not think it is a hardware issue, and my microphone seems to be picking up some sound from within my laptop. Can somebody suggest a solution or something I can try to fix this issue?

I will give you all other possible Microphone fixes to try in sequence. Even if you've already tried one I'd do it in this order as one step may affect the next.

Please run the Recording Sound troubleshooter at Start button > Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot.

Some report that what worked is turning off Fast Startup at Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what Power buttons do > Change Settings Currently Unavailable > uncheck the box for Fast Startup, Save Settings. Right click the volume icon in System Tray at right end of task bar, open Recording Devices, see if the microphone is listed, set it as Default device.

Type Microphone in Start Search, open Set up Microphone, scroll down to Microphone and choose Get started to set it up.

Try rolling back the sound controller drivers in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Choose Sound controller device, then Driver tab, then Roll back if available.

Update the Sound drivers from the PC's Support Downloads web page. While there make sure you also have the latest Chipset, Display, Network, USB and all other drivers, comparing with the version presently installed in Device Manager.

If no newer driver then uninstall the ones presently installed in Device Manager, reached by right clicking the Start Button. Restart PC to reinstall.

It's possible this was caused by a Windows Update so if nothing above works, go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update, check the Installed Updates list for Updates that might have been just installed, try uninstalling them using the Uninstall button present there. Then hide the Updates using the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

If this was caused by a Version update (which you can confirm at Settings > System > About) then for ten days you can roll back Version in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery and hide it until it matures using the Hide Updates Tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

Others are fixing USB mic and headset issues with Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account, because the account is corrupted and this is the only fix.

If nothing else helps then run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This solves many problems and will also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

I have the exact same issue. 

It helps me to disable the mic and then enable it again. That fixes it for 20-30mins - then the static appears again. 

A fix would appreciated.

also tried to use airpods or beats with windows, and it impossible. What a shame.

I am having the same issue and looks like it has been there for a while.
I have to reconnect my meetings everytime.

I have the same issue.  I'm pretty sure its a bug in the driver.  When all the audio goes staticy/crackley it sounds a lot like an audio buffer underflow issue to me.

I guess we're stuck waiting for apple to fix it :(

In the meantime I'm finding my Google Pixel ear buds work perfectly so have been using those when on conference calls.

Very annoying bug :(

I came here for the same reason! Just got new headhphones with a mic, primarily for playing Modern Warfare, and I keep having people tell me the mic sounds like there's static. I'm at least glad to hear I'm not going crazy, but annoying that we just have to cross our fingers and hope an update happens...

I own an engineering firm where my partners as well as employees all use MacBook Pro's on Bootcamp. We are all experiencing this same issue where the microphone gets static-y after 30 minutes and even more so on Microsoft Teams calls. I'm responding to see if any fixes posted on this thread will work.

I had this issue and attempted to resolve with Apple, but didn't get anywhere after an hour and a half chat. I wasn't willing to wipe a fresh install, and it being a corporate device meant they couldn't remote support anything. The diagnostic tools we finally started talking about were to run on the Mac side only, so no hope there.

The solution I found is to use a USB-C to 3.5 mm headphone converter. It shows up as a different device now, which for whatever reason doesn't experience the issue.

Previously it was exactly as described, and I was able to narrow it down to starting 15 minutes into a call and unusable by 20 minutes. Leave and reconnect resolved it immediately, presumably having to do with the duration of the capture of the mic. Someone who knows about drivers was able to determine that there was a flood of interrupt requests and timers from logs on my computer, and suspected that might be overloading the driver.
