McAfee uninstall & update reminder problem

I uninstalled the McAfee, security suite.   I also went to the notification section in Windows 8 and told the software I did not want to receive any update notifications.  However, I continue to get update reminders in the Metro title and within the store for updates to this software.   How do I get these update notifications to go away?   Right now my metro tile continues to show (1) update.  Very annoying.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark, the McAfee uninstall tool can be found here - http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331 and you should run it.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forums.

Its seems that you had installed McAfee Security program from Windows Store and now you have already uninstalled it from the computer and still you get the notification from the Windows Store to install the updates for the McAfee program which is already removed from the computer, even after disabling the update notification in Windows Store. I would like to have some information regarding this.

How did you uninstall the McAfee program from the computer? Was it done from “Programs and Features” utility in Windows 8?

Let me inform you that, if we uninstall any security program from the “Programs and Features” utility. The complete program will not be removed from the computer. There will be still some program components of files existing it the computer. So, in order to remove the complete program from the computer, we need to run a specialized tool from the Security program manufacturer’s website.

So, I would suggest you to download the McAfee Removing Tool from the McAfee website and then run it on the computer to remove all the components of the McAfee Security program from the computer and then check if that resolves the issue. You may either contact the McAfee Support from the given link or you may search for the tool from McAfee website.

If that did not help, you may then contact the McAfee Support for further assistance from this link:

Hope this resolves the issue. If this issue persists, then please do get back to us with the results of the above methods and with all the additional information. We will be glad to help you further.
