Locked out of new ARM laptop after changing setting on 365 apps for business and logging in after promt. Hello stopped working: prompted to enter code sent to email never sent

How does one find one's user name for business account once forgotten and if you were never sent an email containing that information upon purchase and you can't access the apps for check the name because the computer is locked.

I don't accurately remember the long user name (name~~@domain~~onmicrosoft.com), including my company name, etc., and there are no other options shown for logging, though I have facial recognition, and I thought a pin was set up. At any rate, logging into the 365 Apps for Business app running on the laptop messed up logging onto the computer, which is a machine registered on my personal account.

I purchased 365 apps for business at about the same time to use on the new laptop with copilot, since its an ARM machine.
I don't have any separate record of the data as it didn't seem necessary, and have only been using it for a couple of weeks. Purchased 365 product on January 30th. I cant seem to find any help at all, no chats, no phone numbers that lead me to a real person...
Please help I'm locked out of my laptop and i need things on it for work.

The email contact for both my personal account and business account is the same, but I'm not receiving verification codes after logging into 365 seems to have caused this glitch on the laptops login setup.

Hello darrenvasaturo

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been locked out of your laptop due to failed to log-in the account and you cannot receive the verification email. I fully understand how you feel now!

Please understand that your issue involves two different aspects, one is being locked out of computer, another is the Microsoft business account password forgotten. We can help you log into Windows again, however we cannot help you recover your forgotten account. Since business account related issues are handled by another dedicated support team, we recommend you post another thread in the Microsoft 365 for business category, to reach to the correct team for support!

In this thread we will try to help you regain control of your current laptop. You should be able to log into Windows after following the steps mentioned below. However, it's worth mentioning that you still need the proper methods to find back your Microsoft account.

Follow the instructions to activate the built-in administrator on Windows without signing in

First, kindly prepare an installation media (a DVD or USB flash drive).

-Steps:

  • Visit the official Microsoft website, Download Windows 11 For Windows 10, click this link: Download Windows 10 Download the Media Creation Tool from the website.

  • Use the installation tool to create a USB installation disk or ISO file.

1.After an installation media is created, attach the media to your computer. Turn it on and you may press F12 key to select to boot from your Windows installation media. After Windows installation setup has started, press SHIFT+F10 key to open the command prompt window.

2.In the command prompt, type the command below and press Enter.

regedit

3.Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key in the left pane to highlight it.

4.Click on "File" menu and choose the Load Hive option.

In the pop-up window, navigate to

In most cases it is C:\Windows\System32\config

5.Choose the "SAM" file and click Open

6.In the coming Key Name box, type the name whatever you want, for example "Offline"

Now under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key, you should have a new key, named Offline.

7.Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Offline\SAM\Domains\Accounts\Users\000001F4, in the right pane, double click on the "F" key. You should see a table with hexadecimal numbers.

8.By using the Down Arrow key, navigate to line 0038. It's in the 8th line. Your cursor should be before the number 11 now, and then press DEL once, to delete the number 11. Insert 10 in this place. After that click OK to close this window.

9.Finally highlight the key you previously created (e.g. the "Offline" key) and from the File menu, choose Unload Hive to write back the changes you made to the Registry.

10.Close all open windows and restart your computer normally.

11.After the restart, the built-in Administrator account has been enabled. On Windows sign-in screen you should see the Administrator account under your normal user account in the list. Login to Windows using the Administrator account.

Clearing the TPM can resolve this issue in some cases(Note: If your computer is a BitLocker encrypted drive, you will need to access your Microsoft account to view your device security key to unlock it) Here are the general steps to clear the TPM:

1. Enter BIOS/UEFI setup:

• Restart your computer and press a specific key (usually F2, F10, Del, or Esc, depending on your computer brand) during the boot process to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.

Disclaimer:  If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

2. Find the TPM settings:

• Look for options such as "Security", "Advanced", or "Trusted Computing" in the BIOS/UEFI.

• Find the TPM-related settings, which may be called "TPM", "Security Chip", or "Intel PTT".

3. Clear the TPM:

• Look for the "Clear", "Reset", or "Remove" option in the TPM settings.

• Select this option and confirm.

4. Save and exit:

• Save changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.

(If the above is incorrect, please go to the device manufacturer's official website to find specific operations of your corresponding model)

If all the above steps do not solve the problem, the final option is to consider backing up your files using Notepad and then reinstalling Windows.

For the steps for backing up using Notepad, please refer to the link below (the original post is in English, if you need you can use a translation tool to browse):

After completing the backup, please try the following steps:

Prepare another computer with Internet access and a formatted USB flash drive with no less than 16GB available storage space, then try the following steps to reinstall Windows:

(These steps may take a few more time)

1. Use another computer with good condition, to visit Download Windows 11 and click "Download Tool". For Windows 10, click here: Download Windows 10

2. After downloading, double-clicking the tool, it will prompt "Preparation in progress", click "Next".

3. Click "Accept" to accept the user license terms.

4. Wait for Windows preparation to complete, and select "Create installation media for another computer"

5. Select the language, system version and bit number as needed (the default is to automatically match the current system. If you want to reselect, uncheck "Use recommended options for this computer")

6. Select "USB disk" and click "Next"

7. Select the corresponding USB disk removable drive which is plugged into your device, then click "Next"

8. Wait for the file download and media creation to complete, click "Finish"

9. Insert the USB disk into the current computer, then enter BIOS to select USB device as the first startup item in Boot Options, reboot your computer then follow the prompts until the installation is completed.
