Link to windows app not opening with link

I'm trying to connect my old phone to my PC using the link to windows, but I cannot get them to work. My camera is damaged, so I can't scan the QR code, but when I enter in the link "aka.ms/linkpc" and click on the link to open the app, it just takes me to a Play Store page instead, which I already have installed. Trying to open the app through this page forgets the link it's trying to open and just opens the front page of the app instead. This happens every single time, even if I uninstall and reinstall the app.

I tried to do it the other way, by opening "aka.ms/linkphone" on my PC instead, but my phone is asking for a 9 digit number code, while my computer gives me an 8 digit number AND letter code, which I can't enter in at all because the field only allows numbers, trying to type letters does absolutely nothing.

Hi echo445,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We tried to perform tests on different versions of Phone Link and Link to Windows, including the latest version of the application and some older versions of the application from 2023.

Unfortunately, we encountered the same situation.

Based on further testing with system regions, we found that the configuration of the system region affects the way the Phone Link app generates the PIN used to pair Windows with mobile devices.

When we configured the system to use a region with a few specific models, the Phone Link application was able to generate a 9-digit PIN and we were able to complete the pairing process using that 9-digit PIN.
