Latest update lost scroll arrows on Photos App again

This happened last update too, so frustrating.

Since I updated yesterday I have lost the scroll arrows on the photo's app screen, and I can't scroll with my keyboard arrows, between photo's.

However this time I can't seem to resolve it, and I've done the advice in previous posts including:

You may want to try a reset:    Start Menu/Settings/System/Apps & features/Photos/Advanced Options/Reset

A temporary work around is going "ctrl A" on all the photo's in the folder, this seems to bring back arrow functionality, but I don't want to have to do that every I wish to scroll through photos - I just want it to work like it is supposed to, and I'd love to have confidence that every time I had to do a microsoft update I'm not going to lose scrolling, or a printer driver, etc.

Seriously Microsoft can you not get this working, its been an issue since 2016!!!

Hi Bec. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

1) See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta...

2) One of these almost always works to repair the Photos App. Even if you've already tried a step please try them all in sequence until it starts working:

Reset and Repair Photos app at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Microsoft Photos app > Advanced Options. Your pictures will be safe in the User Pictures folder.

If that doesn't help try re-registering the Photos app from Option Two here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

And if that fails then uninstall Photos app in Apps Settings above, restart PC, reinstall from MS Store Hub (three dots at top right of Store app) > My Library.

If nothing else helps you can try a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m....

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I have the same issue. Tried all the solutions listed.

Narrowed it down to this:

Open any folder using File Explorer with 30 or fewer photos and the navigation works.

Open any folder with 31 or more photos and the navigation does not work IF you open any photo EXCEPT the last 30 in the folder. IF you open any one of the last 30 photos in the folder, then the navigation works.

Clearly a bug with loading the list of photos into the the Photos App when opening a photo via File Explorer.

No option but for Microsoft to fix this.
