Laptop not Charging after Windows 10 update

Hello all

I got a new Razer pro 17 laptop with windows 10 on it.
after a windows update, the laptop stopped charging, even though the charger is plugged in.

at first, i thought its a hardware issue, so I did a clean windows rest ( completely wiped out all data), and I found out the charger worked again, it only stopped after I did windows update again, since its just installed through a USB stick) .

Can you please help me with this.

this is a video recording of the problem:

Thank you

Hi Hossama84 -

I'm Kevin B. Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

What version of windows is installed on your computer?
Is it a regular update that disables the battery charging of your computer?

Please follow the steps below and check if it helps

- Run the Power troubleshooter on your computer to identify and attempt to fix the issue

Press windows key + I
Click on Updates & Security
On the left pane menu, click on Troubleshoot
Click on Additional troubleshooter
Locate and click on Power
Click on Run this troubleshooter
Follow the onscreen instruction until the process completes

Restart and check if the same issue appears

If the above method did not resolve the issue, try to update the battery driver of your computer.

Press windows key + R
Type devmgmt.msc and press enter
Device Manager will pop-up
Locate and expand Batteries
Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
Choose Update Driver Software
Follow the update wizard to update the battery driver of your computer

Restart the computer and try again

Hope this will help and have a bless day!

Thanks.

HI Hossama84-

Thank you for keeping me posted and i do apologize it didn't work.

Can you press windows key + R
Type: winver
Kindly check what is your Windows version.

It is possible that you have a compatibility issue. What is the update that is causing the issue ?

Kindly try to turn off the laptop, allow it to charge overnight (at least for 8 hours) while powered off.
Unplug the charger then power it on and use the laptop battery until it powers down.
Charge the laptop again.

Please do let me know what will happen. Hope this will help and have a blessed day!

Thanks.

Hey Kevin.

Thanks again for your commitment to helping m solving my laptop issue, this issue is driving me crazy :|
However I did the battery cycle as you have said, but unfortunately, it didn't work.

as for the Windows version its: W21H1 (OS Build 19043.928)

Is there a way to install an older version of ACPI driver by itself? because the laptop was working fine for like 3 months and this problem happened suddenly after an update.

I really appreciate your time and help.

Hi Hossama84 -

Thanks for the response.

If the update is directly affecting the driver of the battery of your laptop, you need to identify which update is causing it.

To use an older version of ACPI driver on your computer, please follow the steps below

Press windows key + X
Select Device Manager
On the device manager, locate and expand Batteries
Right click on the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System that is currently installed
Select Update Driver
Select Browse my computer for drivers
Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
List of installed driver will be displayed, select an older driver and hit next until the process completes.

Restart the computer and check if the same issue appears

Regards,
Kevin B.

Same issue here ,after updating to 21h1 os build 19043.1023

Battery not fully charges to 100% on plug in charger

And if in charging mode reachs to 100% then on unplugging shows 90/93% charged

Some times after charging more for half or one hour then usual charging time ,it shows 100% in both plugin and on battery mode
