Korean Microsoft IME not prioritized

So i have seen questions about this before and want to clear this up at this point in time.

I have added korean keybard to my keyboards. Korean keyboard consists of 2 keyboards, english and korean.
So i have 2 keyboards, swedish (my main), and korean (which has english and korean). The korean keyboard defaults on english and i always have to change the korean keyboard from english to korean. I find this very dumb, and wonder if there are any hidden options to make korean Microsoft IME default instead of english.

To make myself clear, this is how it is done:

1) I have my sweden keyboard: SWE

2) I change keyboard to korean:

3) But kroean keyboard default in english..: A

so i have to change from english to hangul (Microsoft IME): From A to

So as I said, i want to know if i can skip step 2) and go from swedish to korean in one klick.
And if its not possible, FIX IT PLEASE!

Hi EliasSkeppstedt,
Its a pleasure to help you with this,

Got it, and I'll try to help you with this, below is an option you can try:

Change default input mode:

In the start menu, look for Control Panel.

In Control Panel, navigate to "Clock and Region" or "Region and Language".

Depending on your Windows version, click on "Language" or "Region and Language", then "Keyboards and Languages".

In the "Text services and input languages" window, under "Installed services", select the input method "Korean - Microsoft IME".

After that click on the button written "Properties", in the "Microsoft IME" Properties window, go to the "General" tab.

In the "Preferred input language" section, select "Korean", and click "Apply", then "OK".

Yours Sincerely
Elaine

Hello, thank you for the reply!
I cant find the "Keyboards and Languages" tab you are talking about. In "Clock and Region" tab in control panel, these are the only options i have:

I can go to region which gives me those options:

But i dont really have any options as you described here. Could they be somewhere else on the computer?
Best. Elias (:

To clarify, the "Keyboards and Languages" tab I mentioned is typically found in the "Region and Language" settings in the Control Panel. However, it's possible that the layout or options may differ based on your specific version of Windows.

Here's an alternative method to access the language settings:

Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
In the Settings window, select "Time & Language."
In the left sidebar, select "Language."
On the right side, you should see the languages currently installed on your system.
Click on the language you want to modify (in your case, Korean).
Click on the "Options" button.
Look for an option related to keyboards or input methods. There might be a link to "Add an input method" or a button labeled "Input method settings." Click on it.
In the input method settings, you should be able to add or remove keyboards and change their default settings.

Sorry for the confusion, I'll repeat it clearly and easily

Using the settings application, click on "Time and language", in the menu on the left select "Language and Region".

In the "Preferred languages" section click on "Add a language".

Search for "Korean" in the language list and select it.

So if i say like this.
I want my perfered language to be in swedish. When i then switch to korean i want to have hangul alfabet directly and not the english alfabet.

So for example:

When i start my computer i want to have my swedish keyboard as default.

Then i want to write to a friend and want to use korean. Then i press win + space to change to korean keyboard. But because english alfabet is default on korean keyboard i also need to change alfabet to hangul.

Do you understand what i mean? So i dont want my computer have korean as a default keyboard.

Yes, I understand what you mean now. You want to have Swedish as the default language and keyboard layout on your computer, but when you switch to the Korean keyboard, you want it to automatically switch to the Hangul alphabet instead of the English alphabet.

To achieve this, you can follow these steps:

Open the Settings app in Windows.
Go to the "Time & Language" section.
Select "Language" from the left-hand menu.
Under the "Preferred languages" section, make sure Swedish (or your desired language) is set as the default language. If not, click on "Add a language" and add Swedish, then set it as the default.
Now, go back to the "Time & Language" section and select "Typing" from the left-hand menu.
Scroll down to the "Advanced keyboard settings" section and click on "Language bar options."
In the "Text Services and Input Languages" window that appears, select the "Advanced Key Settings" tab.
Under the "Hot keys for input languages" section, select the "Between input languages" option and click on the "Change Key Sequence" button.
In the "Change Key Sequence" window, select the desired key sequence you want to use to switch between languages (e.g., Left Alt + Shift or Ctrl + Shift).
Click "OK" to confirm the changes and close all the windows.

But i have that set to "left alt + shift". Altho when i click that combination my keyboard change from swedish to korean; with english alfabet.
Image

So when i click "left alt + shift" i need to klick on the A in the down left corner to start type in hangul.

I have set to korean Microsoft IME to "left+shift+1", but it doesnt change anything when i click "left alt + shift + 1"

Hello, EliasSkeppstedt

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is no direct way to set the Korean Microsoft IME to default to Hangul instead of Latin alphabet. Have you tried pressing the left Alt and Shift keys simultaneously, then pressing right Alt? This will switch directly from Swedish to Korean Hangul input method. Although there is no way to do it in one step, it is still more convenient than clicking with a mouse.

In fact, under the Korean input method, pressing the Alt key on the right side at the same time can switch between Hangeul input and Latin alphabet input.

If you want Hangul mode to be the default mode for Korean IME in future versions, kindly provide feedback to Microsoft by simultaneously pressing the Windows logo key and the F key on your keyboard. Subsequently, share the feedback link within the Microsoft Community, allowing anyone who encounters the link to upvote your suggestion. Increased upvotes from a larger user base will contribute to a more expeditious consideration of your proposal by the developers.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.

Best regards
