With windows file explorer, I would like to keep my view settings when there is a windows update. I like to see 'details' rather than thumbnails for example.

Unfortunately, Windows updates often reset the File Explorer view settings. However, you can try the following workaround:
Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder where you want to keep the view settings.
Change the view to the desired settings (e.g., Details view).
Click on the "View" tab at the top of the File Explorer window.
Click on "Options" and then "Change folder and search options."
In the Folder Options dialog box, go to the "View" tab.
Under "Advanced settings," scroll down to the "Launch folder windows in a separate process" option and check the box.
Click on "Apply" and "OK" to save the changes.
By doing this, Windows will open File Explorer in a separate process and remember your view settings even after a Windows update.
