kb4512941 update gives me BSOD with 0x800f0845 error.

Sorry, posting another issue to report with this update.

This is my 1st post ever, so not sure if in the right place.

Desktop Win 10 goes through the motions of updating, and then BSODs with error code 0x800f0845.
Luckily Win 10 automatically reverts back and undoes the update so all stable for the moment...I am on  "Pause Updates" atm.

Tried:

_____________________________________________________________________

1: Checked disk  / files for corruption via elevated cmd prompt:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
then
sfc /scannow

and all good.

____________________________________________________________________

2: SSU up to date.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3: Tried manual update, and still Win 10 goes through the motions of updating, and BSOD with error code 0x800f0845.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

4: UPDATE: tried to "Perform an in-place upgrade using MCT" and I got:

"We couldn't install Win 10" message.

Details:

"0xC1900101 - 0x40017 The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation."

Any advice or others with this issue are most welcome, thanks you.

PS my 3 other Desktops Win 10 computers all updated without a hitch

(all 4 comps connected via LAN for work)

This update is really in a pre-release state. MS officially releases most cumulative updates on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, but may send out some pre-releases of these updates in the 3rd or 4th week of the preceding month for those who want to "beta test" for them.

There has been a number of issues with this particular update. You might want to see the posts in here (https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/139532-cumulative-update-kb4512941-windows-10-v1903-build-18362-329-aug-30-a.html) in the Windows TenForums site for what has been discovered about it. Most problems seem to refer to Cortana going mustang and causing high CPU usage as well as the Search function not working for some. You also might want to block it until it officially comes out on the 10th to see if MS has fixed the several issues with it.

Hello, I'm Benedetto from Italy.

I have exact the same issue on this Update and also in the new KB4515384 update (fix on this update!)

Looking in the Minidump file, it looks like that is a KERNEL Problem

The faulty driver is in NTOSKRNL.EXE.

So I think we should wait for some updates to our motherboard or something like that.

I hope Microsoft could find a Fix about this.

My computer is a
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor, 16,0GB Ram, NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030.

Please, let US know.

Thank you!

Benedetto.

Hello,

I have same problem with two computers, the one is a dell inspiron 7577 (i7700/gtx1060/16GoRam/256Go ssd and 1To hdd)

and another with(i7700/16GoRam/500Go ssd/rtx2080/supermicro c7z270cg)

There are bsod all the time, so i uninstalled KB4515384 and now it's ok.

I hope Microsoft could find a Fix about this.

Same here. I have a BSOD. My PC is 2500k/8+8+4+4gb ram/650ti boost/p8z77-m pro asus momboard not overclocked. I had a BSOD with some of these updates. The only fix is update uninstall. I don't want to reinstall OS, coz I hope a change causes fkup in kernel will be undone, or fixed that way in not go BSOD. I tried to post on MS forum. They tried to help me but have no idea. Most of people from MS think it's bad hardware on my side. I don't think so. It's not overclocked, it worked stable for years. and these last updates cause kernel crash.

kb4512941 bsod

KB4515384 also BSOD.

I also have x-fi sound

do You guys think it's nvidia driver maybe?

Coz I cannot find such reports from someone with Radeon or Intel integrated video?

Same here on two different PCs.

Started getting PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA when applying updates after 1903. Now this month and last months cumulative updates I cannot apply at all, it always rolls back after an automatic repair recovery.

I've tried uninstalling any unnecessary stuff, disabling GPU etc, disabling services, all to no avail. I tried in inplace update using Media Creation tool but this fails in 2nd boot.

Unless MS fix next month's update then there is only the time consuming option of clean install with disk re-format using USB image but there is no guarantee that will work either - leaving me with no working PC.

After reading https://answers.microsoft.com/it-it/windows/forum/all/problema-update-kb4512941-e-kb4515384/959bf323-f9d1-4e77-85a6-e5a54705b5d8?page=3 I located references to ArcCtrl.sys (two keys ArcCtrl) in regedit and in the drivers folder. By removing those reg keys, reboot, removing driver file, reboot I was then able to install all Windows Updates (for the first time since 1903)

Looking at the file dates I think this might be incomplete uninstallation of ArcSoft product obviously incompatible with W10
