Java Update Scheduler has stopped working, can't reinstall Java 8 Update

This happened after uninstalling java 8 update from my pc with a third party app called Geek Uninstaller, the reason i used geek uninstaller is because I wanted to fully remove java from my pc (including registry files) and then do a fresh reinstall, but now i can't even run the java 8 installer from the official java website (running the JavaDevKit17 installer works though).

If i check Windows Reliability Monitor it says

Windows Installer removed the product. Product Name: Java 8 Update 401 (64-bit). Product Version: 8.0.4010.10. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Oracle Corporation. Removal success or error status: 0.

Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Java 8 Update 401 (64-bit). Product Version: 8.0.4010.10. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Oracle Corporation. Installation success or error status: 0.

But in reality every time i run the java installer it just does nothing (even with admin permissions).

After i "installed" java, there were 20 critical errors in WinRelMonitor, all from java and java update scheduler.

The Java Platform SE Binary errors stopped showing up 4 days ago.

The Java Update Scheduler errors show up everyday on WinRelMonitor except only 4 times a day now (Java update scheduler runs 4 times a day but it doesnt work, it just shows the error above).

I just ran the java 8 installer again and this is the error (In WinRelMonitor it's named as Java Platform SE Binary):

Hello,Engjell Bajrami

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having a problem with the java upgrade, and here is a step-by-step way to try to fix the problem:

  1. Clean the registry: Since the uninstaller may have left a registry key that is causing problems, you can use a registry cleaner tool. However, be careful with using registry cleaning tools as they can sometimes cause more problems.

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems, however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click How to back up and restore the registry in Windows - Microsoft Support to view the article.

  2. Check for conflicting software: Sometimes other software on your system may conflict with the Java installer. Consider temporarily disabling antivirus or other security software to see if you allow the Java installer to run correctly.

  3. Perform a clean boot: Perform a clean boot of Windows, starting with a minimal collection of drivers and launchers. This can help eliminate software conflicts that arise when installing programs or updates, or when running programs.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

  4. Install in Safe Mode: Try installing Java in Safe Mode. This will load Windows with minimal drivers and background services, sometimes bypassing conflicts.

  5. Manual Cleanup: Manually check the directory where Java is usually installed (C:Program FilesJava or C:Program Files (x86)Java) and public file directories, and delete any remaining Java folders. In the meantime, check C:UsersyourusernameAppDataLocalTemp and delete any Java-related temporary files.

Disclaimer: You need to back up your important data while doing the above.

You may want to download the latest Java installer from the official website again in case your current installer file is corrupted. You'll need to restart your computer after each step to ensure that any changes take effect.

If none of the above steps work, you need to contact Oracle Support for assistance with your Java installation issue.

Best Regards,

Aaron- MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

Started once normally, then with safe mode + clean boot (as administrator), then normally as administrator and this is the error I always see in WinRelMonitor.

Whereas, you've tried steps including a clean boot in safe mode and running the installer as an administrator and you're still getting the error, indicating a deeper issue that can't be resolved with standard troubleshooting methods. You can create a new test account, and switch to the newly created account to see if is working as normal. This troubleshooting step can help isolate the problem due to an invalid profile configuration.

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

If you set up a system restore point before the Java issue started, you can try to restore to that point. As a last resort, a clean installation of Windows may be required.
