Issues Launching Games from Steam

Hello,

I have been having a bit of an issue with launching a game on my PC for the last month or so. I downloaded NBA 2K25 about 6 weeks ago and was able to play it without any major issues until a recent update was released. After the update, my game crashes every time I attempt to launch it, I have reached out to 2K Support for assistance and they went through all of the troubleshooting steps that they are "approved" for and I am still having this issue. They have recommended that I reach out to Microsoft support as it is considered a "Windows operative issue." They had me run a Clean Boot of the PC as well as look at my DxDiag and MsInfo and have identified "RADAR_PRE_LEAKS log" which I have no idea what that means or what a solution for that may be, if there is one. I have no issues running any other games and am at a lost at this point with this game.

Thanks for any and all support!

Hello Evan Foley1

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having trouble onNBA 2K25 crash every time you launch it, and I understand your confusion.

I noticed that you mentioned that you didn't experience this problem when playing other games and that this only happened after an update, and I'm told that you've already contacted support and they told you to do a clean boot to troubleshoot the problem, so if you don't know how to do this, here's what you can try:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

The purpose of this is to check if the problem is caused by third-party software. If the game works fine in clean boot mode, you can check the problem by closing other third-party software and starting the game in normal startup mode.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

Also make sure your graphics card drivers are updated to the latest, and if you're playing on steam, you can also verify the integrity of the game files and try reinstalling the game.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

Best regards.

Hi Lee,

Thanks so much for your response! 2K had me perform a clean boot and I was still having the same issues with the game crashing when launching. They were not able to resolve the issue and recommended that I reach out to Microsoft for further support.

Thanks again!

Evan

Hello Evan Foley1

Thank you for your response.

I see that you have performed a clean boot but to no avail, thank you for your efforts in resolving this issue, have you tried updating the graphics driver or trying to run the game using administrator mode versus compatibility mode?

Log in to Windows 10/11 with a local Administrator Account and launch the game as an Administrator.

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

Also make sure Time/Date on your PC is Correct

  1. Right-click on the clock on your start menu.

  1. Select Adjust Date/Time.

  1. Untick then retic 'Set time zone automatically.

  1. Reboot your PC.

Hi Evan,

The specific error you receive is a software fault related to system memory. Refer to the marked answer here (the thread is coincidentally also referring to a 2K game through Steam):

RADAR_PRE_LEAK - Microsoft Community

Also see Rob’s advice here:

RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 - Microsoft Community

Feel welcome to ask if you need any help with the steps.

Hope this helps.

Always happy to help :)

Hello,

Thanks for your response! I read through both of those links and followed the steps recommended but am still having the same issue with the game crashing when launching. I ran another DxDiag after it crashes and am still seeing the Radar_Pre_Leak_64 appear. NBA2k25 is the only game that I currently have issues with. Is there anyway to get this game to run, as it currently will not when I "run as admin" either?

Thanks again!

Evan

Hello Evan Foley1

Thank you for your response.

I'm sorry to see that your issue is still unresolved, but as a member of the Microsoft community, our support for third-party platforms as well as games is really limited, so I hope you'll be able to get your issue resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards.
