Hi Dragon Frag,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing degraded audio quality on your device.

We understand your frustration. It degrades the audio experience

One thing to synchronize with you is that we (members of the Answers community) are not product developers, we are just regular support people trying to do our best to provide support based on our limited experience and available information.

The symptoms you are currently experiencing are indicative of a change in driver type/version. The key message “one day” indicates a change in the software environment.

When a problem occurs with a device, restoring the device to a relatively early state to minimize the impact of potential software environment changes is always the preferred option.

To open System Restore, Use the keyboard shortcut Windows +R, type rstrui.exe and press Enter.

  • In the Restore system files and settings box, select Next

  • Select the restore point that you want to use in the list of results. If you don’t see the restore point that you want to use, select the Show more restore points check box to see more restore points.

  • Optionally, select Scan for affected programs.

  • Once you find the proper restore point, select Next > Finish.

  • After the restore point is applied, Windows restarts automatically.

To uninstall an update,

  • In the Settings app on your Windows device, select Windows Update Update historyUninstall updates.

  • On the list that appears, select update you want to remove, and then select Uninstall.

  • Some updates cannot be uninstalled.

For some hardwares, the driver may contain several different types and versions of files at the same time.

In some cases, you can try to check and switch drivers. To check if the computer has different types of drivers listed.

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager from the menu, or type "Device Manager" in the search bar and select it from the results.

  • In Device Manager, locate the category that includes the device you want to update or check, and expand it by clicking the arrow next to it.

  • Right-click on the device you want to update or check and select Update driver

  • In the Update Drivers window, select Browse my computer for drivers

  • Next, choose Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

  • You will see a list of compatible drivers for your device.

  • If you see multiple options, you might choose the most recent or appropriate one for your needs, and click Next

  • Then follow the instructions to install it.

If you would like, you can try to perform a “clean uninstall process” of most of the audio components of your device (including the microphone, or other audio drivers such as Realtek, Intel® Smart Sound Technology) to minimize the interference of the driver's cached data.

After the driver "package" is removed from the device, the driver may not be installed by scanning for hardware changes. Please be careful to back up the driver installation files in advance.

To perform clean uninstall process of a driver using Device Manager

Disclaimer: Please back up all your important data before performing it.

  • Open Device Manager: Press the Windows key, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.

  • Locate the Device: In Device Manager, find the device whose driver you want to uninstall. Expand the category if needed.

  • Uninstall the Device: Right-click on the device and select "Uninstall device".

  • Delete the Driver Software: In the uninstallation window, check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device" (if available).

  • Confirm and Restart: Click "Uninstall" and then restart your computer.

This process ensures that the driver is completely removed from your system.

  • For older versions of the driver, you can visit the device manufacturer's product support site.

Tried uninstalling the device, nothing changed. I can't restore the device because i just don't have any restore point.

upd: Also tried uninstalling the Audio driver with DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller), and then installing the Audio drivers back from the official website for my device(don't know if i spelled it right, but my laptop is from the Acer company, and i downloaded the driver for exactly my laptop model using the serial number). That didn't change anything too.
upd 2: That's how my mic is detected at the moment:

P.S. It was named as "HyperX Quadcast" earlier and was working great, i didn't do anything to the mic or didn't download anything, but now the mic is detected as a "USB Advanced Audio Device" with a crappy sound.

Hi Dragon Frag,

Thank you for getting back to us.

If possible, would you mind sharing some information with us? It may help to judge further.

  • The original link to the Acer site you used to get the audio drivers?

  • Results observed after running “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer”?

  • Results from cross-testing with other cables (if interchangeable), other ports, other computers?

I don't know what kind of cable this is, it is unusual. I tried other ports, and it is the same. Can't try on other computers because don't have the opportunity.

JosephT71, Hello.
I appreciate your help but the file on the given website is not more available, also it can brick the microphone so it can do even worse.
