Is there any way to separate "Hard disk drives" and "Devices with removable storage" sections in Windows 8.1 Explorer.

Please provide the solution rather than using file system in group by.

Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum.

Try to create a new user account and check.

Follow the steps below.

STEP 1: Switch to Local User Account

1. Press “Windows key +W”.

2. Type “users” without quotes in the search box.

3. Then select “Users” from the left panel.

4. You will get an option “Switch to a Local account” right below your user account name.

5. Select “Switch to a local account” option.

6. Enter the required details.

7. Then login to the local account.

NOTE: Remember your Microsoft Account Password.

 

STEP 2: Create a NEW Microsoft Account with your PRIMARY e-mail

1. Press “Windows key +C”.

2. Click on Settings and then click on Change PC settings at the bottom of the Right panel.

3. Click on Users listed on the left.

4. Click Add a User under Other Users.

5. Type your PRIMARY Microsoft Account e-mail address.

6. Enter the required details.

7. Log off the computer.

8. Login into the newly created Microsoft Account.

 

STEP 3: Transfer all your data onto the MS Account from the Local Account.

Go to Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Users to the account you
want to COPY - Right Click on the Folders (and/or files) and COPY - go to the other account
and PASTE where you want to put them. Repeat as needed.

NOTE: Do not delete the folders and files from the account they are in until you are sure they are duplicated where you need them.

 

STEP 4: Once sure you are done with all your files copied, delete the Local Account.

The MS account will serve as the only account with administrative privileges with all your data.

As far as I know, there is no way to do this other than what VG has suggested, i.e. Group by file system".

Sir, In step 2 after clicking on Change PC settings at the bottom of the Right panel no user is listed on left side.
