Is there any way to make Windows 11 Start menu look like the one I had in Windows 7

Is there any way to make Windows 11 keep my pinned icons in groups like they are here? I hate having to look all over the Start Menu for my program that I need and for some reason Windows 11 keeps moving them to an alphabetic order when I turn the computer off at night! I would love for someone to tell me how to make the Start menu look like this again.

Hi Wild Child,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I can understand your confusion. Some usage habits are not easy to migrate.

Unfortunately, based on modern product update policies, there is no ability to roll back specific component versions.

For example, the problem description of this thread gives a Windows 10-style start menu style.

If you do want to use a Windows 10-style start menu, then you might need to resort to third-party tools.

Windows 11 has changed the layout of the Start menu.

  • Apps can still be pinned to the Start menu.

Although different from how tile composition is implemented in Windows 10, pinned apps can still form combined folders.

Based on Windows 11 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1555)

  • Drag and drop the apps you need to form new combinations.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
