Is it possible to make only one user profile show to log in when booting up without deactivating the other accounts?

This computer has multiple admin accounts for logging in.  However it is almost always used by one set of users that does not need the confusion of finding the right one to log into. Currently all accounts show after booting up and the correct one must be selected first.

The machine is shut off every night, and the hope is to have just that main profile and password box show by itself when booting up.  The other accounts would be accessible on the rare occasions by clicking the "Switch User" button.

Is this possible?

Would having Windows log into that account automatically, with no login screen, do what you want?  If so:

  1. Press WindowsKey+R .
  2. Type control userpasswords2 in the Open: box and press Enter.
  3. Un-check Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer .
  4. Click OK.
  5. Enter the user name and password.
  6. Click OK .

Hi

The only way you can display one login icon and still have access to all user accounts is to use the following procedure.

This will show a single login icon where you can type the user name and password for any account.

1.  If you have  Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate, open the Group Policy Editor and navigate to the following policy.

Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Local Policies / Security Options.

In the right-hand pane double click the policy:

Interactive logon: Do not display last user name - Change this policy to Enabled.

2.  If you have the  Home Premium  version, you can set this policy using the registry.

*Make sure you back up the Key before making any changes.*

Open Regedit and navigate to the following location.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

In the right side pane, look for the Value  dontdisplaylastusername. Double click this value and change the Value Data to 1.

If this value is not present, right click and select New/DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the value dontdisplaylastusername and make the change noted above.

Here is a Screenshot of the login window.

let us know if this works for you.
