Everything that claim to repair your computer and asks you to pay for it is a scam.
Just use CCleaner, that too without registry edit for general housekeeping stuff.

Hi R,

All of these utilities that claim to keep your system working fast, clean and in tip top shape are not good to have installed . . .

More times than not, they will cause more harm than good and sometimes can and will brick your system . . .

Microsoft half the time, don't know what will be in next months update, so how are these companies meant to stay ahead of the curve. All it takes is Microsoft to change a registry entry and that software does not realise it is meant to be there and problems cam occur

Trust Windows to keep itself up to date and responsive - if you really look at it, there is no real speed boost to be had by installing this type of Software !

Well I haven’t heard many good things about CCleaner!

Maybe everyone just acculmulates different experiences with the various products out there.

I had used the free version of Avast(? I forget the name I’ll correct this by the next reply)  for many years.

Then I chose to try the free version of A...? (Again I forget the full name, I’ll correct berore the next round of replies) and recently went for the “paid” version of this one  at about $50 per year.  So far that package hasn’t seemed to cause any harm that I can tell.  It alledges it has speeded  up boot times a bit but I have no way of actually measureing any actual improvments,

what still has me wondering is, is the list of many faults these programs claim need to be “fixed” where do those detailed poblems come from? Are they just a list that is made up (i.e canned) and just falsly displayed to the user of his/her machine?

I should say yes, with my experience.

I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE THAT THIS WAS THE ONE I TRIED BUT IT MADE MY COMPUTER BOOT UP FASTER. CONS ARE THAT MICROSOFT PITCTUREIT NO LONGER WORKS AND LOTS OF OTHER THINGS ARE MISSING.

within the first 2 days i was bombarded with requests to upgrade which means the service

you have bought is inferior and does't need a brain surgeon to work that out. Then I decided

i would ask for a refund in the 14 day cooling off period. To get to point where you can send an email

I have'nt found so to me this is a scam. If you go to custumer service it just shows you your invoice with no insructions of how to claim a refund if you are not a satisfied custumer.

I use iolo System Mechanic now called Phoenix 360 (suite).  It does not run slow once it is set up. If you install the whole suite, just don't use another virus/malware program.  It will not harm your computer.
