iPhone not recognized in windows 10

Every time I connect my iPhone to my windows pc, a popup message appears saying that the device is not recognized, meaning that I can’t do ANYTHING with it on the pc. It doesn’t show up in iTunes nor the file explorer and in device manager it’s shown as unknown device with a yellow exclamation mark next to it (going to the properties tab, it says “a request for the usb device descriptor failed). The iPhone doesn’t even charge when connected to the computer. I’ve tried different cables and different computers, but the error persists. The device is new, and this problem actually occurred a few months ago, but I was able to fix it using CopyTrans Driver installer. Before, and after that, it was working perfectly. This time however, NOTHING works. Uninstalling and reinstalling the device drivers didn’t work, nor did reinstalling iTunes. Windows troubleshooter doesn’t work either. What can I do? Can someone please help me? It’s very important to me and I would really appreciate it if someone helped.

Try this:
Right-click the Apple Mobile Device entry in Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus controllers and choose Update Driver Software.
• Select "Browse my computer for driver software."
• Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
• Click the Have Disk button. Note: If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and then click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.
• Click the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
• Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
• Click Open in the Have Disk window. Then, click Next and then Click Finish. Windows will install the driver.

I hope it helps.

What is the make and model of your iPhone?

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

Please see:

I connect my iPhone X to a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 1803 64 bit latest cumulative update.

So, if its not showing up, its possible the iPhone might be defective or you need to factory reset it.

Hello Cheesy:
My name is Frank.
I am a community member just like yourself.
When you connect the iPhone to the computer, the iPhone is in screen lock mode isn't it?
So, my advise would be:

Get to Windows Explorer.
On the left side of the split screen you get to see all the drives:
Drive C:
Drive x

Good. Wait there.

Now, take the iPhone and connect it to a different USB port than the one you were using.

Make sure the lock screen is not enabled on the iPhone.
If it is, swipe it away.
Usually, the iPhone will display a message that is asking if you trust this computer device. Answer YES.
If you received all of these screens and messages as described here, you should be able to now see the iPhone.

Works for me.
Let us know here at the community, how that went.
I hope it worked!
Remember 2 things: Swap out the USB port you were connecting to.
Get out of the default screen saver / screen lock mode on the iPhone.
If it is on, you will never see the phone asking you if it is Ok to trust the computer.
Maybe they will at least like each other after this.

Windows DID install a usbaapl64.inf driver but that still didnt help. Instead of Unknown Device, the iphone now shows up as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver in device manager (since I clicked on an apple mobile usb driver when installing) but it still has a yellow exclamation mark next to it and isnt recognized

I can also confirm my iPhone 6s shows up just fine too.

I didn't say the problem is with the computer, my reply did say, your iPhone is likely defective.

Which version of iOS is currently installed on your iPhone?

Why do i feel like noone actually read my post? The phone is not even recognized on my computer. I connect the iPhone to the computer but the iPhone doesn’t even respond as if i never connected it. The computer itself shows a message saying that the device is not recognized.  Since it is displayed as an unknown device on the computer and the iPhone doesn’t even recognize that I have connected it to a computer, the trust message cannot appear.
