Internal error occurred Scanner driver will be closed Code:5,202,254

I have a Canon Canoscan 9000F scanner which I recently attempted to bring back into use after over a year of inactivity.  When I took the scanner offline it was working perfectly.  Today, I connected the scanner to my computer and attempted to scan a photo and received the above error message.  I uninstalled all software that came with the hardware, including the drivers and reinstalled using the disc that came with the scanner.  I then searched for and installed the updates for the software and the drivers and verified in devices that the computer is recognizing the hardware.  I have Windows 7, 64 bit.

I ran Microsoft Fix It and received the following message, "Issues Found: Hardware changes might not have been detected",  Fix Status: Detected !"  Apparently Mr Fix It is at lunch as nothing was done, the issue has not been resolved.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!

Ratandeep,

When I click on Start and enter "services.msc", the list of services does not include a WIA Driver.  I have downloaded the latest drivers from Canon but still there is not a WIA driver.  I am receiving an alert that indicates a WIA Driver is required for the scanner.

If Canon doesn't provide this driver, who does?

Again, thank you for your help.

Rick

Ratandeep,

Tried compatibility mode.  Canon MP Navigator, the scanner software, would not open.  So no fix under compatibility mode.  The scanner worked about a year ago under Windows 7, 64 bit before several updates from Microsoft.
