Intel WiDi not supported on Windows 10 !

Bummer ! Windows 10 doesn't support Intel WiDi, i.e. you cannot mirror your PC screen over the air to your Smart TV !

Intel WiDi used to work on my system till Windows 8.1 and I was able to connect to my TV and cast my PC screen on it over the air, but now I cannot even install the Intel WiDi app as it says that Intel WiDi app is not compatible with this version of windows.

I get the above error while trying to install WiDi application. Is there a way to force install the same?

I use this feature daily and I would have to go back to Windows 8.1 is this doesn't work. Windows didn't point out this app as incompatible in Compatibility report while installing Windows 10.

I'm able to get WiDi/Miracast working on windows 10 without needing any additional software.

This is what I do - hopefully it will work for you:

1. Open the action center (click the icon that looks like a word balloon in the task bar next to the date/time in the lower right corner)

2. Click on the "Connect" box (right next to the tablet mode box)

3. An overlay should come up saying it is searching for wireless display and audio devices on the right side of the screen

4. If you haven't already, put your TV into Screen Mirroring mode

5. When the device(s) show up on the overlay on the right, click on the device you want to connect to.

At this point your computer should connect to your screen. I even get a big blue Intel WiDi logo that shows up on the bottom right of the screen.

Note: When I first did this on my Samsung TV, it would connect, but only my mouse pointer would show up on the TV - none of the rest of the graphics on my display. I checked for a software update for my TV (last update I installed was in March). It found one, installed it, and I can screen mirror just fine now.

Hope this helps.

Still don't work, my desktop background shows, minus the icons, and nothing but a black screen on the tv. This worked perfectly on 8.1 Pro. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with the Dell tech dept yesterday, gave them access remotely and they couldn't figure out the problem either.

Sorry it didn't work for you.

This isn't going to make you any happier, but apparently Dell is aware of the issue and working with Microsoft.

Solutions are expected to be in place no later than October 29, 2015  :(
