Integrated Webcam is unstable after update to windows 11.

Hi,

I have Dell 7490, I have recently installed windows 11, When I open the Camera app or MS teams the camera seems to be unstable and it sometime shows the video and sometime it doesn't. I have gone through the Device Manager->Cameras->Integrated Webcams, I checked the Driver Date and it appears to be 21/06/2006. The driver version is 10.0.22000.176. I have tried updating the driver by clicking update driver but it tells the most up to date driver is already installed. I tried to get the driver from Dell Support Assist and they tell me that its driver is made by Microsoft so contact them. Kindly tell me what should I do to rectify this for this problem.

Thank you. : )

Hi Hasna. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

Try these fixes for webcam not working in Windows 11:

Hopefully one of those will help.

1) Try Updating the webcam driver from the Dell Downloads page here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Produ... for your Dell Service Tag on sticker located as shown here: https://www.dell.com/support/contents/us/en/04/...

In Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button, compare all other drivers including Chipset, display, sound, etc to make sure you have the latest vs. the PC maker's Support Downloads web page.

Additionally on Webcam Driver tab see if Roll Back is available, if not try Update Driver, first Automatically, then Browse, then Let Me Pick to try all previously installed Drivers.

If these fail try to Uninstall the Driver, restart PC to reinstall.

2) Did you enable the Privacy setting to allow apps to use your webcam?

3 Try resetting the Camera app at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Camera > Advanced Options.

4) If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...
If there are any hurdles during install then these steps can overcome them: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

For me also similar issue with dell latitude 7490.... sometimes it worked but the camera was faded out and dull... all I had to do as it turned out was to change camera settings and values in settings app-btw I was also using windows 11.. windows 10 it worked fine..

You have to go to settings>bluetooth and devices>camera>integrated webcam> then you will see brightness and contrast settings... I had to adjust it since the camera didn't support the current setting and then it was fine.. Now my camera is more clear and crisp compared to when I was using windows 10...However these settings don't apply in the camera app but in any other application that has to use the integrated webcam.....

Note- if this doesn't work it may be a driver error... you might have to reset ur webcam driver.....contact dell customer support or try links posted by the previous reply by Greg Carmak.....

even for me it shows webcam driver from 2006.....
