Installing Windows asked to verify identity fails

I am installing Windows 10 to replace Windows 7 on my daughter's laptop. I am being asked to verify identity, but it's not sending a code to the email address.

Sign in to the Microsoft account website http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=615757, and go to the Your info section.
Select Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
Select Verify next to the email address, and then Send me verification email.


you could restart the process by opening your web browser then try signing to a Microsoft service such as Outlook.com

Upgrading to Windows 10 should not require you to do that though. How are you initiating the upgrade?

Have you tried upgrading offline?

What is the make and model of your computer?

Have you checked the manufacturers website to determine compatibility?

Download the ISO directly using the following instructions:

You are in OOBE. You should power down, start again, but instead of trying to setup with a Microsoft Account, use a Local Account. Learn more:

You need to perform a clean install and stay off the Internet while reinstalling.

Power on and off your computer three times
On the third time, your computer will boot into the Advanced Recovery environment
Click Advanced Options
Click Troubleshoot
Click Reset this PC
Click Keep my files
Choose your account
Enter your password
Click Continue
Click Reset

Powering on and off makes no diference it always comes back with the same verify screen !
