Installing device driver on W10, using compatibility mode?

My Dell Studio XPS8100 has a corrupt LAN device driver.  Was Windows 7 Home originally, I have upgraded to Windows 10, when I check Dell website for new drivers they only provide it for W7 (since that's my machine's original config I guess.)  Install as-is aborts, incompatible OS.  Can a dev driver be installed ON W10 forcing compatibility back TO W7 mode?  Many thanx

Hi Michael,

Troubleshoot compatibility feature allows older drivers to work with modern versions of Windows by making the drivers believe that it is being installed on a supported version of Windows. For more information, see Andre Da Costa's How to: Install and Update Hardware Drivers in Windows 10.
