Install software (non-Microsoft Store apps)

Hello,

My laptop is setup with the option to install MIcrosoft Store apps exclusively. I've seen online that there is an option to change that under Settings > Apps & features > Installing apps. However, I don't see this part of that menu active on my laptop. How can I change these setting to install the (outside) software?

First screen is my laptop. Yellow is where the "Installing apps" menu should be.

Second screen is how it appears to look like.

Carlos,

We noticed that the post that you've created has been idle. We would want to know if you still need assistance in this regard. We're so sorry about the delays.

To proceed, can you tell us the version of your Windows 10? To know it, please press Windows key + R, type winver and hit Enter key.

If you're using Windows 10 S version, this could be the reason. S version is designed to only install programs Microsoft Store for performance and security reasons. You have to upgrade to Pro version in order to be able to unlock features that will allow you to install outside-programs.

More info about Widnows 10 S.

Cheers.

Carlos, thanks for the update. All apologies about the delays.

Hello Marc,

My version is Windows 10 Version 1709 (Compilation SO 16299.192).

I'm trying to install .exe files like Power BI and Microsoft Teams.

Please double-check, if the account (User profile) being used is logged as Administrator. To do so, go to Start  > Settings  > Account  > Family & other people and select Change account type. If it shows the wor "Administrator" the account being used is an Administrator. If that shows "Standard" you can change it in the same window.

Given that you're using the Windows 10 Version 1709 (Compilation SO 16299.192), under Settings > Update and Security > Activation, which edition of Windows 10 Shows?

Kind regards.

THANKS Marc.

What happened is that this laptop was set up as administrator for the previous owner. The issue has been rectified.
