My on-screen keyboard does not show the letters, numbers, etc., only these: tab, enter, space, directional arrows, page up and down, esc and general.  how do I restore the whole thing?  Help!  Thank you in advance!

Hello Joseph,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I appreciate if you could answer the below questions to narrow down the issue and to provide you better assistance.

1. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue?
2. What is the make and model of the computer?

Let us run SFC scan by following the below steps and see if it brings any difference.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

The sfc /scannow (System File Checker) command scans all protected system files, and replaces incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with correct Microsoft versions.

1. Press ‘Windows + X’ keys.
2. Click on ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ to bring up an elevated command prompt.
Note: Click ‘Yes’ if it prompts for permission.
3. In the command prompt type in the following command and then press Enter.

sfc /scannow

Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

I would recommend you to check for latest Windows Updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. If you have any pending updates remaining to install, kindly install them and check if it helps.

If the issue still persists, provide us the screenshot of the issue for better understanding.

Note: Make sure you hide all the personal information from the screenshot before posting.

Hope the information helps. Do reply if you need further assistance.

Hi.  I did make a change to my computer before the problem happened.  I installed a game called Spore and that is when the problem started.  I ran system file checker and it didn't say anything was wrong.  My computer is made by Dell and it is an Inspiron 5500.  I'm starting to think that my on-screen keyboard is not the one you think I'm talking about.  This is because my on-screen keyboard looks different than the keyboard I saw when I searched on-screen keyboard windows 10.  Maybe my on-screen keyboard is one thats exclusive to Dell computers.  I will check windows update and see if the problem persists.  Thanks!

Here is the picture of my on-Imagescreen keyboard right now.  I would really want it to go back to the full-sized mode.
